2014: San Francisco

We always wanted to go and it seemed a natural fit for our honeymoon.

We used our Avios points to secure a business class seat on the West Coast and based ourselves entirely in San Fran to give us time to really explore it. We visited Alcatraz, which was eery and amazing at the same time. The redwoods as Muir Woods were huge and there were plenty of museums to visit. We accidentally stumbled upon the tram museum but the Japanese gardens were planned. The adults-only evening at the California Academy of Sciences was a great way to see the exhibits and alcohol was allowed. As we were based at 321 Castro Street (which has been sold since), we got to experience the local nightlife. Annoying the owner of the guesthouse had a bug and passed it on to us and so we had quite a few days of sickness. Luckily we’d seen quite a bit before we got it. The food highlight was the Dim Sum at the Asian Art Museum cafe. We’ve not had any as good since!
